Reading a few posts from people about their childhood memories, got me thinking about mine. Here are a few things that I remember doing as a child…. Holding the wool whilst my Mom did her knitting Helping Mom to cook ….Dad grew lots of veggies but I helped peel the skin of boiled beetroot ….purple hands for days. Also help slice the runner beans. Drawing hopscotch on the pavement Making a ‘den’ with chairs and old sheets or table cloths Writing a Christmas list for Father Christmas and putting it under the rug ….then checking every day til it had gone …. Having an ice cream from the ice cream van Can you relate to any of these …..? What childhood memories do you have ?

Riding my bike or the horses all over the "neighborhood" (our neighborhood was 1 mile on a side) or in the neighbor's pasture when they didn't have cattle in the fields. Setting up a tent in the field and camping out with the neighbor boy. Ice cream fresh from the maker. Watermelon with the whole family gathered around.

Pet lambs to play with, poddy calves to ride, ponies to ride and, like you, holding wool for Mum to wind up into balls.

@Traceyjayne It's a calf taken from the mother and taught to drink from a bucket. The cows were milked for the household but some was kept back for the calf.

Oh yes, I remember getting the kitchen chairs and a big sheet to make a tent for my sister and I to play in. It was so fun! I loved hearing the ice cream van come down the street. I also remember getting my mom’s big kitchen pot to make it a pool for my Barbies! Unfortunately, when we were done, I don’t think I put it in the dishwasher.

I can't remember the exact year, but i can never Forget the experience. I was still small and back then my dad was still alive. It was Christmas day, we really didn't have enough money to go out or at least cook something nice at home, as kids me and my siblings where feeling sad about it, but we understood things where pretty difficult. After church that Christmas day, we felt we would be going home straight, but we noticed my dad was taking a different road until we got to the sea port, he had a little discussion with the guards and they let us in. That was the first time i saw ships live. We drove round the port laughing and talking about the ships. Sadly they didn't let us into one of them cause that would require approval from their captain who was absent at the moment. There was no food or money that Christmas, but it felt like i had won the lottery and my Christmas was the best.
