New stands for our Qwirkle game

A friend dropped in this morning and presented us with these boards he had made. He and his wife came for lunch the other day and we played a few games of Qwirkle. He thought the stands we had which came with the game (you can see one on the right hand side) tipped over too easily so he got to and made six stands, one in each of the Qwirkle colours. They will certainly do the job very well. The colours don’t really matter but it’s a nice touch. Qwirkle is a fun game where you have to either match colours or match shapes.

@JudyEv Oh I see, thanks. Might look for that one, it's a bit different to others we have (although having said that we have more than enough games and no time to play them!)

I've written about it before. Here's a photo of it 'in play'. You have to line up colours or shapes. You can't duplicate a tile in a line. There are six different colours and six different shapes. If you get the six in the one line you get extra points.

It's a fun game and not difficult to learn or to play. There are six different shapes and six different colours and the idea is to line them up however you can. If you get the six in a line you get extra points. Here is a game 'in play'.

I never heard about this game, this is interesting. I am sure it would be a good exercise for my husband.

@JudyEv - Thank you. I wonder if one of those mind games that my husband bought from Amazon is this one. Of course he bought and did not even open the boxes.

@LadyDuck That's a shame that he didn't open the boxes.

If you check Linda's response, you can see a game laid out. You're not supposed to duplicate shapes or colours in a particular line which just might be a bit challenging, particularly for a start.

I’ve never heard of that game. Is it popular in Australia? My dad and his wife like to play games with their friends once a week.

This is ideal for 4 players as well as 2 or 3. I've laid out a game in Linda's response. The aim is to get the same shapes in a row, all different colours, or the colour in a row but different shapes. It doesn't take long to learn.

It's a lot of fun and you can play 2, 3, or 4 people. I don't think it would work so well with more.

I had not heard of this game, but I think it would be fun. My daughter and son in law like games, I am going to ask them if they have heard of this one.

It's not hard to learn and not stressful. Some can be very long and a real challenge but I think this is one of the simpler ones. DId you see the photo on Linda's response? It will give you more idea of how it's played.

I've shown a game laid out in Linda's response. One particular friend and I play it a lot.

That's a nice idea! I hadn't heard of that game either but we have a couple of matching games which we enjoy. Have you heard of 'Set'? Or 'Cobrapaw'?

I haven't heard of those. There seems to be dozens of board games available now. Some seem very intricate and take ages but this is one of the simpler ones. You can see a game in progress on Linda's response.

I've never heard of the game. It looks interesting with those colours. Perhaps my children of the foster home may like to play it.

You can see a game in progress on Linda's response. I think the children would love it. You might even be able to make up your own set if you had a few woodworking tools.
