Tomorrow we will be celebrating Holi, the colour festival and one of the most important festivals of us Hind. Last night Holika Dahan was observed. We burn garbage and rotten, useless wood in a open ground. The next morning the real festival of colours is celebrated. People from different areas start gathering at a place and spray colours on each other. They smear colour powder on each other's faces and all this goes on for hours. By noon they get exhausted. Then they enjoy sweets, hug each other and depart. My father and other elders say that there was a time when people started spraying colours and smearing colours in each other's faces from fifteen days before the actual Holi Day. Market will remain closed tomorrow. When I was 18 the festival was celebrated for five days. So, friends, I'm going to bed . It's my study time as you know. Wish you all a Happy Holi.

Happy Holi wishes to you! I have played Holi but at our home it was not celebrated that crazily. I do remember that when we used to be returning from our school, sometimes other boys used to apply a lot of color (often Pucca) that would remain even for bathing for many days. But some of my friends do play a lot of Holi. What I do not like is when I hear of people trying to molest females or playing with mud mixed in colors. Holi should be played with some civility else it makes matters very bad.

@Shivram59 Yes that is a proper and civilised way to play. However you might know that in some cities & villages, people play Holi in a very indecent and often objectionable manner. I have even heard Tales of people trying to behave very badly with females.

A very very happy Holi to you and your family. I agree with you. Holi should not be vulger. Here in my town and nearby villages Holi is played with civility.Boys play Holi with women only by putting a pinch of gulal on their feet and seek their blessings. I have just come home and joined you after having a bath Happy Holi once again to you and your family.
