AI helping in the fight against breast cancer

An interesting article came up on my news feed which I thought I’d share with you all.
Australian-made artificial intelligence (AI) has been used to develop a tool to predict the likelihood of a woman having breast cancer. The algorithm used data from nearly half a million Australian mammograms and an independent dataset of 4,500 Swedish women. Scanning so many mammograms would be impossible for an individual.
The AI tool has learnt to distinguish between dense breast tissue and cancer. It also operates at a pixel level which the human eye cannot do. Overall, when it came to determining risk, it was more accurate than current methods.
So another good use for AI it seems.
The photo is mine.

That's really good to hear.
AI will be a game changer in many fields
Eventually I think it will eradicate all cancers
We will all love even longer
The population will explode
And then the planet will overheat, run out of resources, and implode
How cheery am I?

That's a beautiful photo.
I hope the doctors have figured out how to stop AI from fabricating data... At least when it's used for medical purposes.

Yes, I think AI will be a big help in medical diagnosis, and I am all over it as long as the results are signed off by a human.

We need to be sure humans are in control at all stages.

Its going to help a lot of good people to do their jobs, the question is how do we keep it out of bad people's hands?

As long as it's as accurate or more accurate than a human, then I don't have a problem with it. It must still be run by a human though.
