sunday morning thoughts

Good morning, friends. Sometimes, listening to one of those audio books about Victorian age mades me feel that I belong there. Today I was listening to the narrator that told me how the girl went to see the Dowager duchess. She was the Duke´s grandmother and in the narrator´s words, the was an "imposing, yet ANCIENT lady that must have been around 80 years old". HEY, I want to scream, I´m not ancient and I´m 80. But the narrator went on with his tale about how the girl even dreaded to glance at her. No wonder I try not to look at mirrors anymore. Maybe the mirror would give me a stare as shocked as the girl gave to the Dowager duchess. Gone are the days when I spent long minutes looking at myself and thinking how I would comb my hair for next Saturday´s party. Now I use my time reading and listening to characters of other times and think about what to make for lunch, delicious yet acceptable to my tummy. Three months ago I decided that I would not use pepper anymore. And lately I am thinking that I will have to talk with my doctor about blood pressure, Losartan and red wine. Do you feel that some things start to leave your life? My older friends have similar problems. Dixie kisses her champagne glass on New Year and leaves it behind a pot. Alejandra asks her son to take away all fat from her piece of meat before he cuts it (she can´t do it as she sees poorly). Now I´ll go to read you posts. I have been away too long.

80 is no longer ancient in my book. I will be 78 this month. Mentally I feel much younger. My body says otherwise. I have had to change my diet drastically as I now have kidney disease. I don't like that. I like to eat what I want!!!

I have accepted my mind that no longer does several tasks at the same time. My body is something else. It is definitly old.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think many of us eat what we want all the time. I always remember one day my oldest daughter said, ''Mom, you get smarter every year. You really do'' she made my day!

Well, at times what we see has a big impact on our minds. With age of course, some problems increase. But I think one does not needs to think that much. Enjoy what you can in a way that does not affects your health but makes you feel better as well !

You need to ignore those author thoughts and just listen to me telling you you're still as beautiful as you were as a young woman of 18 years old. Even when you don't have time to comb your hair, I see a radiantly beautiful young lady. I can't use Losartan anymore. Several years ago I had an allergic reaction to it and was hospitalized for three days. My doctor told me never to touch it again and gave me something different. (Losartan caused my lips to swell up and then my tongue swelled so much I couldn't close my mouth.) Yes, you have been away too long. Some of us worry when we don't see you as often.

I do have time to comb my hair but now it is short and scarce and not long and beautiful. I´d love to have a small allergic reaction to Losartan so that my lips resembled those of Angeline Jolie instead of the way my lips have thinned with age.

@DaddyEvil I used to want the kind of hair that models had when offering a shampoo or hair dye. I´ll have to wait for my next incarnation.

Ancient, huh? Ancient seems to get further and further away the older I get. You’re fantastic no matter how old you are.

Until I heard those books I never thought that the word ancient could be applied to me.

I no longer think about my age; I just do what I do day, and some days feel better than others. I just have to be careful when I walk into the bathroom since then the mirror might shake me up
