Oh my list for this would be sooooooo long.
FINANCIAL LITERACY: how to balance a checkbook, how credit reports work, the importance of Savings, etc.
WORLD CULTURE: Understanding more about the people all around the world
BASIC COURTESY/MANNERS: a short course on respect and proper etiquette would be nice. It's not being taught at home, that's for sure.
CIVICS: a basic understanding of that student's country and how it works, elections, leadership, etc.
SURVIVAL SKILLS: basic how to start a fire, first aid, how to find your way if lost, etc.
What subjects do you think should be taught in school but aren’t?

All the prior classes I was raised with but they took away. Business - balancing budgets, taxes, and savings. Home economics that include nutrition and actual cooking. Our native Americans, slavery, manners, cursive, different cultures, ethics and being respectful...

Algebra since I never took the course in grade school. When I took it in college, I flunked it big time.

In India politics is taught as social studies as a subject. However teaching manners doesn't last long if the family background is not good.

I've always been a supporter of Finance 101. I took Civics in junior high.

That’s a really good list. In our curriculum, world culture and civics are already taught, but I agree with the rest. I also think schools should teach more practical things like how taxes actually work in real life—what to do with BIR if you’re self-employed, filing taxes, and other adult responsibilities—along with basic legal knowledge and government paperwork. Many people finish school without knowing how to handle these and just end up learning along the way. Mental health and emotional skills are important too. And digital literacy, since that’s the world we live in now, kids should learn not just how to use technology, but also its risks, limitations, and responsibilities.
Typing skills should also be taught, especially proper touch typing with correct hand placement. It may sound simple, but it’s one of the most useful, practical skills I learned since almost everything today be it schoolwork, work, emails, reports, even content creation—involves typing. You can get by without touch typing, but it’s much more efficient when you know it.

I learnt alot about household budgeting in home economics class.A food safety and handling course would be great to see, as well as nutrition.
I took world religions, but I attended a private high school, and it was not offered in the public high schools, and I am not certain if it is offered today. It would give people a better understanding of why and how people worship in the manner that they do.

@looeyville I’m on board with all of those, many of which ought to be taught at home by parents. I would also include how to pick up what your dog leaves behind it on the sidewalk, how to turn down loud music, the ins and outs of buying a house, why it’s not acceptable to pick your nose in public and flick the product into a crowd of people … pupils in my school of life will be exhausted if my curriculum is properly taught.
