So this morning’s news is that five Iranian women soccer players have sought refuge in Australia. Others have been offered support but it seems they’ve opted to return to Iran although heaven knows how they’ll get there even if they have their own plane. Some fear reprisals against family members if they don’t return.
It has been very difficult to communicate at all with the team members as they are closely guarded and all communication is monitored. However, five were able to make their wishes known and they now have temporary visas and have been granted asylum.
The government has been under some criticism for not doing enough but it seems they’ve been working quietly behind the scenes and now five at least can start their new lives here.
The photo is mine, showing a future soccer star maybe.

I'm glad your government offered them asylum. I wouldn't trust the present US government if they offered anything.

That's nice that your government offered them asylum. Kindness is what we need these days.

Indeed, this news has been making headlines.
The way Iran works today, reprisal against the families of these five Football players could be likely.
And news coming out of there is also not easy.
By the way, as per some news sources, US intelligence has said that regime change in Iran still seems unfeasible.
And US or Israel committing troops on ground inside Iran seems a big no.
Iran has a military of 600 K so things aren't easy.
Let us see what happens.

There are some new developments. Some point to probable capture of an Island of Strategic Oil importance to Iran by US - Kharg Islands.
So would we see boots on the ground?
In any case, this war has also shown US that they cannot just walkover anywhere in the world.
Hopefully Trump becomes wiser.

Yes multiple outcomes that many of us want but it might end up adding the complexity.

Glad they are able to stay. I do understand not accepting it to protect their families too

@JudyEv It's not a situation anyone should have to be in.

@Ineeddentures One mother told her daughter to stay in Australia as she'd be killed if she went home.

I’m thankful they were offered asylum. It’s sad how fast Iran went backwards after the revolution in 1979.
