Of all men, none is more disappointed than I.

I was in Buxton today, a town just an hour’s train ride from Manchester. And it was freezing cold. We like Buxton, but are dismayed that it’s quaint little tea shops where home made cakes and pastries are served have been all but obliterated by the big, brash, corporate coffee shop chains with their synthetic fare and outrageous prices.
And, when I had a croissant and coffee at Manchester station against my own advice, the croissant had been microwaved to heat it up and consequently had gone limp, greasy and soggy. The strawberry jam accompanying it was of the meanest quality and tasted not of strawberry. Why people? Why?
I know @Traceyjayne disapproves of microwaving sausage rolls - we discussed it a few days ago. I’m sure she must feel the same regarding microwaving croissants.
And the coffee - well it wasn’t coffee, but that’s what they called it. It tasted like a big mug of Bovril and could not be drunk.
Oh woe is me.

I'm sorry your croissant and coffee were a disappointment.
I hope you have a good weekend.

I wish people would go back to just keep it simple. The worse is how different can we do things. Dude, I am different but that is just the way I am. I do not go around making things different just because. Everything in my opinion has a purpose of just doing something better, not just to be more different just because you think it will be more profitable and we could charge higher prices that way.

What is the world coming to …….first they microwave a sausage roll ……now they have moved on to the croissant !
Have these people no shame !
Do they not own an air fryer , at the very least !
I have never been to Buxton …..and this doesn’t exactly make the thought of visiting there very appealing !
I would rather have quaint tea shops than a soggy croissant any day of the week !

I can feel what you are saying. I hope you find a place where you can get things of your choice.

Gingsters, they make a fine sausage roll which microwaves just fine.
Limp, greasy and soggy, croissant in the microwave, yep.
Bovril, it's a pie you need to go with Bovril
