That was then and this is now

My Mom and her eight kids. And her difficulties with the guys in her life. And the reality of feeding and clothing and keeping a roof over us.
I was the youngest. That's probably why I got the message that when it came to most any work, the message was clear: it was easier for Mom to just do the task and get it done with. No time to show me how.
I learned the rudiments of baking yeast breads and making pie crust on my own. After I grew to be an adult I learned more about nutrition and keeping my body healthy.
Today I walked the dogs down the short block, across the street and down the next short block. Not super long but an outing. Ornamental cherry trees on the further block are blooming over the sidewalk. Lovely. The last house on the left has drifts of daffodils. More incentive for me to move my bones.
We didn't walk a five mile course. We did get out for a walk, though. We happened on a young neighbor and her little girl. The dogs got to socialize. Very nice lady.
I'm grateful we were able to go that far. I tell myself that a little is enough. Same with housework. Wiping a counter is something. It isn't what really needs done but it is something. I mentally tell my dear Mom to go have a sit and cup of coffee. I wiped a counter and washed a dish. Good enough. I don't need to be super anything. And yes, today for a few hours, held some sunshine and the front porch was warm.

A little exercise is something. Being social is something. You may have made their day. I am doing more but not enough in my mind. We shall see if I can improve that.

@wolfgirl569 Thanks. The Rhody bushes will start blooming in just weeks if this mild weather continues.
