They both gave up the ghost in the same week.

Appliances and gadgets...when they work, they are great. When they don't work, it's frustrating, especially when it's a kitchen appliance you count on. Earlier in the week, my blender gave up the ghost and just died of old age. I knew it was getting old, but it worked well for years. Fine...I have (well, I had one) what is called a Magic Bullet. It was probably 20 years old, it was a totally wonderful gadget that would chop things, make smoothies and milkshakes, you name it. The kids loved it. Today, it decided life was no longer worth living without his old buddy, the blender. I know it's not the outlet I used, as I always use the blender on a different outlet .completely--it's closer and there is more room there. We are now blender-less and Magic Bullet-less. We do still have a mixer, so that will work for now. My son said he couldn't remember ever not having the Magic Bullet. I know we had a good long run with both of them, but for them to croak just a few days apart is frustrating.

I’m amazed that they worked that long. I’m betting their replacements won’t last half that length of time.

I will try to just replace the blender at some point. And you are correct, the saying ''they don't' make 'em like they used to'' is so, so true.

I've never had a Magic Bullet and I don't use my blender so it's pretty old/unused.

Do you like smoothies? Blenders are great for that.

I hope you can eventually find another for a decent price. Or maybe one of your family members has an extra?

We have that one thrift shop that's local, and I might find one in there if I get lucky! I will start looking as I get time. It's not the end of the world, but it is inconvenient as I used both items a lot. I am thankful they lasted as long as they did, but sad they both picked the same week to go to appliance heaven.

Just now
I also still have my Magic Bullet and I cannot even remember when I bought it, but for sure ages ago. The oldest appliances I still have is my great powerful vacuum cleaner. I bought it when we got married, so it's almost 55 years old.

Most older appliances work for ages. I'm sorry yours gave out after a long run.

I do know the blender was probably 25-30 years old. The bullet was a bit newer but not by much. I did know they were getting old, I just never thought of them going to appliance heaven together.

Do you have a birthday coming up? I'm just hoping that a third appliance doesn't give up on you.

My birthday is in January. I could pretend to have another birthday, but that means I would have to be another year older, so I guess I will pass on that.
