So you don’t know who the 1986 artist today is? Fear not, 1976 has you covered.
Join me as we celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of this classic song and album.
Night Moves - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band
See you tomorrow.
Oh, I’m supposed to say something about this?
Bob Seger’s breakthrough. He’d been around for a good ten years before this, with his first album coming out in 1968. (Fun fact: Glenn Frey sang backup on his first single, “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.”) As so many acts did back then, he built a slow, steady audience through relentless touring (see his song “Turn the Page”), until finally the “mainstream” music scene caught up to him.
And what a song to be most people’s introduction to Seger (mine included). The tale of kids looking for a place to have sex for the sake of being teenagers having sex (“we weren’t in love, oh no, far from it…we were just young and restless and bored”) resonated with the kids doing exactly what the song described…or remembering when they had done that.
Yes, it’ll make you feel old to realize that this song about teenage lust that you listened to as a teenager is now 50 years old. But it also makes you realize just how great this song is.

It's hard to believe that I am now the same age my grandfather was on 1976

Oh, well, chacun à son goût. (I’m rewatching Department S and I’d forgotten how fond Jason was of saying that.)

I didn't count the notes, but hubby and I both knew song and artist and saw him in concert when we were dating in the 80's.
