Have you ever been audited?

I have never been audited, but I remember my sister and brother-in-law were audited about fifteen years ago (before even Amyra was born). Of course, no one wants to be audited, whether you have something to hide or not.
They said the auditor was actually really nice, and they ended up only having to pay $200 because they had claimed a write off that shouldn’t have been counted as one. They were so relieved.

No, I think those with high incomes have the most to fear.

I've never been audited but worked for a company that was audited. They were very thorough going through all the invoices, etc.

My parents business that we inherited is frequently being audited. But me as an individual, no.

Once I was audited, back in the early 90's.
I claimed my child care expenses, and that triggered an audit.
As always, I just had to bring in the documentation from Revenue Canada to the accountant, who dealt with it.
I know that income taxes can be done pretty cheaply online, but you get what you pay for and you are accountable for any audits, that is why we have our papers done professionally.

Fortunately, for your sister and brother-in-law it was a minor amount. Still, having one must have been a scary feeling. For me, not yet, thank goodness. But I did get a letter from the IRS for income I received but forgot to report. Had to pay it back with interest. My dad got audited once. When it was done the government owed him money, lol.
