The photo (courtesy Kriengsak Jirasirirojanakorn, Wikimedia) shows butterflies in Kaeng Krachan National Park, a UNESCO-listed forest in Thailand. An hour-and-a-half from Hua Hin, the forest is home to over 250 butterfly species, not to mention 91 species of mammals and 461 bird species.
The butterflies gather at mineral ‘licks’. They ‘puddle’ here, landing on the wet soil to absorb essential salts and minerals that they can’t get from nectar. Most are males and the nutrients they collect help produce stronger eggs after mating.
Of course, the photo only shows one species but isn’t it beautiful?

Just now
I've not seen single-colored ones. I usually see multi-colored ones.

They look like Sulfur butterflies that love cabbages here. And yes, they're lovely.
