Cell phone at night…

I keep my cell phone on all night. I got rid of my landline years ago, so in the case of emergency I always have mine on for convenient dialing. My dad, on the hand, turns his off. When my awful terrible uncle (my mom’s brother) was alive, he’d call my dad at 3am asking for random things, like phone numbers or pizza recommendations. Eventually, my dad got tired of it, and turned it off once he went to bed. Now, my dad’s wife leaves hers on. Which I’m glad for because I’ve needed to reach him before, and he had forgotten to turn his phone back on.
So, your cell phone at night…do you mute it, turn it off, leave it on, or what?

It is totally understandable what drove your father to turn his off at night, I remember you posting about that uncle.
But thankfully, his wife has the sense of urgency to turn her phone on, and she is less likely to have calls as your father did.
We gave up our landline when we moved to the city here, because our home phone number wasn't local and we were not dependent on a landline anyways. We both keep our phones on 24/7. I keep mine on silent, but my husband keeps his ringer on, just in case.

I monitor my sleep with my Apple watch. In order to get an accurate reading the watch (which is connected to my phone) goes into a sleep mode. It automatically goes into sleep mode at 1:30am and wakes up at 10:30am. There have been updates that indicate a nap as opposed to sleep. But there are times that because I sleep late I'm afraid I'm going to miss a call I am expecting. In those instances I will check my phone frequently for notifications. I can manually turn sleep mode off, which I do like today when I am up earlier than 10:30.
But it's making me think now. I will probably have to turn sleep mode off at a time like when my daughter is due to have a baby. There are no pending deaths in my family (our my husband's for that matter), but those kinds of things can wait until morning. There's nothing you an do about it.

I switch it off because its getting old so that helps the device to reboot

Mine is always on but only makes a low growling noise for a ringtone. If I'm awake, I'll hear it and answer but it's not loud enough to wake me if I'm asleep. (Pretty often calls me to see if I'm awake when she wants something.)

It's on all the time. Cousin #2 might call me at 4 in the morning because she knows I'm awake.

Since I live alone, it’s a must that my phone is always on. This way, if my sister needs to call me during an emergency, I can answer it immediately and return home.

I keep mine on, but I don't really need to as I have a second line. However, if I turn it off, I have a hard time turning it back on.

We leave both our phones on all the time ….we do have a landline as well . Reception isn’t always great where we are for mobiles and I needed to know that if she needed us mom could get in touch at any time.

I do not have a cellphone in my possession. If I did, I would have it on just in case of an emergency.

But when it's turn off. I'm still reachable from my other number which is in a keypad phone.
