Can Good News Also Be Bad News?

Happy Sunday Everyone! it's sunny and heading into the 60s today. Yay!! Got a phone call from my grandson last night to tell us that he's moving to Pittsburg Pa which is about 5 hours away. He' been dating this girl for over a year and the long distance has gotten old. So, since it looks like this relationship is going in the right direction he decided to move closer to her. I'm happy for him but being 5 hours away means we won't be seeing him very often. So his good news is in a way bad news for us. It's hard when the little birds fly the nest

Yes, it sure can be. I'm happy for him but not-so-happy for you. He'll still call and that's almost as good. When Pretty was gone to college, it was hard on me but I was happy for her to get an education. *shrug*

He is young, and so close with his family, hopefully they will make a point of making the drive every couple of months during the nice weather. Congratulations to him on striking out on his own and for being in love.

@Marilynda1225 I hope so too, but the experience will last him forever, and all of the wonderful details that come along with striking out on his own. I wish him well.

I hope this relationship lasts. At least he knows he can always come home if it doesn't.

You may not see him quite as often, although FaceTime calls are good ….but you know that he us happy and moving forward with his life and relationship.

FaceTime, texting, etc are easy ways to keep in touch these days. I'll be settling for virtual hugs instead of real ones.

It IS hard when they leave. But we raise them to be independent and strong and in today’s world, that seems to be more important than ever before. Hopefully you will see him often.

I'm sure we'll see him often enough and it's not like he's going so far that it would require more than a car drive.

They grow up and move away, don't they? I'm wishing him good luck in a new city.
