Scam In The Making.

I saw my neighbor earlier, a single mom of two boys, and she looked completely exhausted, like she was on the verge of giving up. She told me she was supposed to start a new job, and she and the employer were already discussing the contract. However, she noticed that important details like the base pay per hour, number of working hours, and payment setup were not included in the contract. So last night, she asked the employer for clarification. Apparently, the employer didn’t take it well. The employer explained the compensation and insisted that those details are not included in their contracts. Despite her concerns, she really needed the job to support her children, so she decided to trust the employer blindly and messaged that she was ready to sign. Unfortunately, the employer later informed her that they had decided not to proceed with her application. I think that is a red flag for scam. What do you think?

Not sure about this Raquel For the life of me I can't work out exactly what the scam is Sounds like the employer isn't going to pay the going rate and just wants either free or cheap labour, and no questions asked

It surely was a scam, I am sorry she was not hired, but I am sure she would have worked and got no money at all. Better she finds another job.

@rakski - When someone does not want to mention the salary and working hours in the contract is a red alarm, better not to sign.

Does sound a bit strange that the employer decided against hiring her. Can only hope she didn't get caught up in a scam and can find a job that's perfect for her,

I hope that she find a legitimate job. It seems the employer is vague on her salary terms

Oh, that's so sad. But I think it's a blessing in disguise that she noticed those red flags before she started, imagine working for hours then later on found out that you are not receiving anything. Hoping she'll find a new one soon!

Scam or not. But the contract should indicate all the needed details like hours of work, salary, days of work, leave credits, etc. So the employee won't be exploited by an employer.

That's definitely a red flag. Things have to be clearly mentioned in a job contract. Sorry about your neighbor. I really hope and pray that she lands in a genuine job soon. This might be good as she escaped ro fall prey of cheap exploited labour
