A few days ago my partner was saying that his jeans needed mending. He put his phone in his pocket – or thought he did – and then as he walked out of a shop his phone appeared out of the bottom of his trouser leg, much to the surprise of a store detective! So today I said that I would try and repair it – I also need to fix the hole in my coat pocket! But when I offered to fix his jeans my partner quickly mentioned that the hole in the pocket was actually the least urgent repair needed, and promptly produced a jacket with a hole, another with a loose button and a coat with a big tear in the lining! Later when Little One asked what I was doing and I showed her, she exclaimed that he should just learn to sew so he could fix them all himself

@Fleura He is considerate towards you and thinks that solving them in a centralized manner once is better than bothering you often.

@changjiangzhibin89 Maybe you're right. I've done them all now so he'll be OK for a while!

Nowadays a lot of people just throw a garment away if they lose a button!

Very good or like corporate America Teaches buy another one. There is responsibility for yourself one way or an other in this world and that's probably the last thing the world is doing right, but only for poor people and people who do not learn. They never hold rich or wealthy people to that standard.

Buying another one would not be an option. The result would just be that the old one stayed around for ever.

Wise words from Little One. I can’t imagine why he waited so long either. Hubs can sew hems on pants by hand.

Haha...the incident was kinda funny but had it happened with me, I would have panicked thinking I had lost my phone.

May be you can guide him on sewing things. Luckily, we have facilities around us - people who can fix clothes at reasonable prices. However, as time would progress, we could see less of such people. We call these people as "Alteration Guys" !

That is so funny! He certainly took advantage of the situation to bring out all his other mending needs.

Well Little One is probably right about that. Sewing is easy if you can get the thread on the needle. That's really difficult for me

Though gender roles have changed, some things are still more common with the female gender, and sewing skills are one of them, aren’t they. I don’t know how to sew myself though, which is disappointing. I really should have my dad’s wife show me how.
