Nindigully - a town with nine permanent residents

I read today about a pub in outback Queensland. The Nindigully Hotel (don't we have wonderful names?) was originally built in 1864 and is about 500 kms west of Brisbane. The current owner, after 24 years managing the pub, has now leased it to his ‘apprentice’.
The hotel sits on the bank of the Moonie River, has free camping, serves over-sized meals and runs a number of different events. The beer garden can hold 2,500 people and fills every time there is a music event. In 2019, it won an award as Queensland’s best outback pub.
When Stephen Burns (Burnsie) bought the building in 2002, it was in a state of disrepair. Burnsie has lost two wives to cancer and the pub was painted pink in 2012 to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The annual Nindigully Pig Races attracts thousands of visitors each year and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
But here’s the interesting bit: Nindigully town has just nine permanent residents. I wonder if they all work at the pub.
The image was copied from the article and originally supplied by the hotel.

Nine permanent residents - well interesting number.
However, some of the non permanent moving people would be more.
The name is interesting too and in fact some of the names of places in Southern Indian states sound similar.
Could it be coincidental?
I suppose this would be a place not very widely traveled?

I'm glad the pub is so successful. Odd that there are only 9 residents.

That’s a large pub, but unfortunately, only nine residents lived there.
