Well, isn't that a long song title! That took up half of 1966 just to say! And, oh, it's country...sort of. You're going to hear 1960s country rap in this song! Back 60 years we go for the first trip to country music from that year. I've Been a Long Time Leavin' (But I'll Be a Long Time Gone) - Roger Miller The thing about Roger Miller is you never really knew what you'd get from him. He'd have you laughing one minute ("Dang Me") and crying the next ("Husbands and Wives"). He does a little of both here. It's the tale of a man who realizes he's "been a fool, forgiving you each time you've done me wrong," and he takes off on foot, preferring to hitchhike (the rap part) rather than stay. And, of course, Miller had to put a few of his trademark sung silliness in it. Just another example of Roger being Roger. Roger Miller reminds me of my dad. He loved Roger Miller and I grew up listening to his music.

That's cool to hear. He reminds me of my dad in that we had all his albums when I was little.

I’ve heard and liked some of his recordings. My father sang along to his music all the time. Sweet memories.
