Do you write and/or read reviews?

When I say “reviews”, I mean for pretty much anything. One of the first things that came to mind was the movie reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. When it comes to movies, I do not want the opinion of a professional critic; I want to know what the regular viewer thought. Way too many times movies professional critics touted as great I thought were philosophical drivel.
When I shop on Walmart I look at the reviews for some things, just as I do on Amazon. Although, I AM on the lookout for reviews that are obviously Chat GPT, which I DO find, and are obvious. I also like check TrustPilot when I need to know info about businesses, or even if survey sites are legit. I’ve saved myself a lot of trouble with survey sites by checking TrustPilot, for sure. I hope my reviews there have also helped others.
So, what about you guys?

I don't read reviews for movies or shows because they often contain spoilers. I do read product reviews if it costs more than $25 or something and I'm not familiar with the brand.

It depends I don't usually read reviews unless someone on a blog I am following writes up a review about something,

As far as media, I do not want to read "critics" opinions. Some of my favorite things have been down voted in the past. I glance at product reviews, but still use my own reasoning as well.

Pretty and I both write and read reviews when we think something is great and when something was crappy. We think people should know what they're buying.

@AmbiePam That's all people reading reviews seem to care about.

Yes I do read reviews especially if the item I am looking for has only the minimum description. For example just a couple of days ago, we needed to drill a 35 mm hole, but did not have a 35 mm hole saw. After wasting an hour or so trying to work out whether we could somehow manage to create the right size hole using the set we do have, which included 32 mm and 38 mm sizes, I convinced my partner we should just buy the right size tool and I looked online and found one readily available for collection from a local hardware store. But the description had only the barest minimum of information, so I read through the reviews and that was how I discovered (at about review #20) that we would also need to buy a special attachment to attach the new hole saw to a drill. If I had not read that we would have wasted at least another hour going to get a tool which we would not have been able to use! I have found this kind of thing happens quite often with things like this, and the reviews often contain really useful information from other helpful users.

I usually read reviews and I don't buy anything without checking reviews.

I agree about movie reviews by professional critics. They pan films that I've absolutely loved. Film reviews are pretty subjective. We might check out products but try to keep an open mind.

I read reviews of video games since I like to know if the video game is easy to play and worth my time. I usually avoid a positive review of a movie since the views of the critic do not share my view of the movie I would enjoy.

I do both. Often. Probably write them more than I read them
