Look Me in the Eye

Tomorrow morning, I am headed to the ophthalmologist (eye doctor). It’s for my autoimmune disorder. You have to see the eye doctor once a year to monitor your retinas from damage a prescribed medication from the rheumatologist might cause. I know, you’re thinking why take something that could cause problems like that. Why? Because it works! This is a medication I can actually say makes me feel better, and the labs echo that. Unfortunately, I don’t have vision insurance (all ye who look down on those who get government help can rejoice). But they won’t prescribe the medication unless you go, so my poor dad is taking me (I don’t drive to this place; it’s difficult to get around). I actually got to see him today. I think it had been three weeks since I had. Diana sent me home with some delicious roast. Do you see get your eyes checked? I really hope you do. There are a lot of health problems that can be caught by getting your vision checked. I read too much.

I think that you are right in getting your eyes examined, I do annually also. I think that those that look down on those who are on government assistance should get their own eyes tested and then look into the mirror and try to see straight. There is no need for judgements such as that, everyone is only trying to do the very best that they can. Good luck at the eye exam, and enjoy the time spent with your dear Dad.

I’m way overdue to get mine checked again. But no vision insurance, just like you. It’s just the way it is. I’m very glad your Dad is taking you. And glad to hear Diana sent you home with roast!! Yum!

Thank you, Barbara. I imagine you’ll be so glad to get through your cataract surgery. My grandma sure was. She couldn’t believe the difference.

@AmbiePam I hope so, but I'll probably still have to wear glasses for some things.

Maybe you can after awhile. I understand with a job it’s not so simple as to just make an appointment.

Yes, I have to have my eyes checked every six months but I do have insurance that pays for it. I hope everything comes out okay for you. Good luck!

Due to my line of work, i am constantly either facing my laptop screen or my phone screen so it has affected my eyes to some extent and right now i don't have the funds to go for a proper check at the moment.

Maybe you can get a pair of blue light blockers? You know, glasses made to protect the eyes of people constantly exposed to a screen. It will take some of the strain away.

I do get them checked. I also need to order some good replacement glasses since I broke my good ones.

Kudos on getting a ride. They might put drops in your eyes or something. I bet you were thrilled to see your dad, and with the roast. It has been a few years for me..but my eyes are healthy. I do have trouble reading some of the smaller print on the TV though. I have vision insurance, and last time they covered the cost of my whole glasses, but with budget cuts I doubt seriously that would be the case now.

I hope your appointment goes/went well. Once I find an eye doctor, I'll be making an appointment. I don't like going to the eye doctor, but I know it's overdue.

Yes, I have my eyes checked every year. It is important for me because the doctor has to monitor my glaucoma.

We always get our eyes checked yearly. It’s a necessity for everyone. Let us know how you make out and as usual, your dad is a complete blessing.

I don't actually get my eyes checked except when I need new glasses. But I take your point. It's a good idea.

Good Luck for tomorrow ....it's lovely of Diana to send you home with food ...my Mom does that too. I was talking to my cousin earlier ....she turned 60 today , and she was telling me about her cataract operations ... I listened but felt squeamish.

I have to go every 6 months because of my glaucoma. I have dry eye too; but that's inconsequential. I've already had my cataracts taken out.

I don't really have issues with my eyes but my optician told me to watching bright screen to avoid straining the eyes.
