It's Official...Spring is Here

Happy Thursday Everyone! thankfully we have another sunny day even though it's still on the chilly side. I was here earlier with my coffee and chatted for awhile before I had to get stuff done. The lawn crew was here early this morning to get the first cut done . Nothing like waking up on a Thursday to the buzzing sound of lawn mowers. The HOA notified us that this upcoming week they'll be coming around to do all the mulching so spring is officially here! Guess every Thursday for the next few months there's no need to set my alarm clock My daughter and I were talking about getting a raised planter for the deck and trying to see if we would have any success with tomatoes. We had one lonely little tomato plant last year and it grew a few cherry tomatoes but we got it way late in the season so we probably would have done better earlier. Her friend starts tomato plants and sells them so he's the one we got the plant from last summer. I know she's going to talk to him about getting some for this summer so I guess it's worth a try, I know many people do grow them in pots and are successful Nothing beats homegrown tomatoes Since she'll be seeing her friends this weekend I guess we'll get all the info we need for this little venture. Can't say anything exciting happened today but as always the day just flew by. Now I'm heading to the kitchen to start dinner. We're having a small pork loin, baked sweet potatoes and veggies (probably broccoli). What's happening in your little corner of the myLot world today?

I have enjoyed some outside time today. Moved most of my plants outside. Some might need to come back in at times. But it feels good to have them outside

I will find your earlier post later on tonight when I work back to it Marilyn I work backwards Growing tomatoes is easy enough as long as the plants are well looked after which they will be, I know Nothing exciting here today either apart from us sleeping late and not getting up until.2am

I hope we can be successful if we decide to grow some tomatoes. Since we don't have a garden we'll have it do it in pots/planters

@Marilynda1225 I think asmlong as they are not in hot direct sunlight allmyhe time and you don't over water them they will be ok in pots or planters or even just in compost bags with a slit down the middle

Just now
I absolutely love home grown tomatoes. There used to be a fruit stand by the side of the road in the summer where my grandmother used to live. They sold the most amazing tomatoes and yellow squash. It was just so delicious. I think both of those things need to be in my grocery list now! It’s 3am Friday as I’m replying to this post. I have an eye doctor appointment I’ll leave for at 8:30am; my dad will drive me. It’s a very long drive.

Glad to hear that spring has arrived. For the past couple of days it has been raining here with a wild and crazy wind so I have no idea what is happening outside,

Rain and wind isn't very appealing but guess the rain will bring all those pretty May flowers.

I agree. Nothing beats home grown tomatoes. Enjoy your dinner. Going to work on mine. Have to eat up our food before we leave.

I just hope we can grow some tomatoes. We've talked about it for the past few years but never actually did it. Enjoy your dinner and your evening

@Marilynda1225 It doesn’t matter. If they don’t grow, there’s always the market! Good luck!

I hope you get a lot of tomatoes this year from your plants. All I can say is I'm busy with books.

The temperature has been very warm since the past Sunday, but the wind blew a few times. I hope that the cold days are really over, but you can never be sure before May starts.

We'll be taking the dog for a walk shortly then will need to go shopping. We didn't bring a lot to the house-sit with us. It all got too complicated. Tomato plants are easy to grow. Unfortunately we get a chillli thrip here which decimates the plants. I probably won't bother growing them again. There is nothing that gets rid of the thrip.
