I was chatting to my cousin Nicky today. It's her Birthday ....she is 60 today
At the moment she is on holiday in France.
Anyway, one of the things we were talking about was the fact that she has now had both her cataracts done ....one last December and the other five weeks ago. She has her check up next week.
She tells me that it's the best thing she has ever done ( apart from her wedding and the birth of her children I guess ! ) ha ha .
She still needs glasses for reading but her every day vision is the best it's ever been.
I'm so pleased that it has all gone well for her.
Have you had this operation ?
Do you know someone who has ?

@traceyjayne I know several people who’ve had cataracts removed with good effect. I’d hate anyone working at my eyes. My brother had eye surgery and the night before he was sitting up in bed in the hospital watching the operation he was about to have on TV. I couldn’t. I hate going to the doctor about anything - I don’t like being poked and prodded. Dentist’s ok though.

@Traceyjayne My wife always had to be rendered unconscious before the dentist could even examine her. She’s not too bad now.

@xFiacre ...I don't like the dentist either ....any work to be done and they have to knock me out !
Your brother was brave watching the operation right before his surgery.

My older sister recently had eye surgery for cataracts a few months ago.

My grandma had cataracts and she had surgery in the US many years ago. And then she had another procedure where they inserted a lens in her eyes which I didn't understand coz I was still young then. She never wore glasses after that.

No, I haven't had it done and I don't know anyone who has had it done. My ophthalmologist said I would need to have it done one of these days, though. I don't like anyone messing around with my eyes.

Two weeks apart ...wow ...I'm pleased it was successful ...I'm not good with anything to do with eyes.

I've only ever heard good reports about these operations. There was an Australian doctor who did countless cataract surgeries among our indigenous people and saved many of them from going blind.

@Traceyjayne He was an amazing man and trained others to do the work. He deserves a post of his own. I'm working on it.

Both of my late grandparents had cataracts, and my grandmother about had a cow because once her cataracts were gone she noticed she hadn’t cleaned as well as she thought. Now, she’s a perfectionist, so to anyone else her house was spotless, but not to her.
My stepmom also got her cataracts removed and she was pretty thrilled too.

Yes, I've had both eyes done. My vision isn't quite as good as it was when I first had it done. My eye doctor said that's not possible because I'm looking through the same new lenses.
