Which bill do you grudge paying?

April 9, 2026 8:22pm CST
Do you grudge paying a particular Bill? We all at some point get a bill we grudge paying, don't we? For me it's the standing charges , daily charge, for our gas and electric meters It's approx £30 per month It's not a lot, I know that, and I also know that this money is supposed to help the provider service and maintain our accounts But I still grudge it, especially given the high price of energy Road tax on my bikes, another rip off. The money is supposed to maintain the roads so why all the pot holes So how about you What bills do you grudge paying and why?

@Ineeddentures Not really sure... I think it would be subscription service, Gym Memberships and Unused Insurance Policies.

@augusta123 Well you should go to the gym more And cancel insurances if you never claim on them

My mom has me take care of all her bills. I go online to her bank account and use the bill pay feature to pay most of the bills. She does not know how to do that. Anyway, I hate paying her gas bill. As you know, her bill keeps having estimate readings. We clearly overpay for gas usage because her meter readings are always less than what it says on the bill. And we can’t do anything about it. I called the gas company more than a few times and supposedly they’re working on getting it fixed so the readings are actual but so far nothing. And because the account is on my name and the one that has to deal with it.

@Ineeddentures if we don’t pay, they will turn off the gas.

@lovebuglena They can't turn off the gas if you are over paying and you can prove it. Phone in an exact meter reading When you get the bill it should state the reading you phoned in That's simple enough and you can do that.

@Ineeddentures - For the great programs they arrive to propose, it's a shame to have to pay.

@LadyDuck I suggested to Yvonne that we didn't pay. And she said we would end up on court. So we will pay

I think the only bills I have a grudge paying is medical bills. I have health insurance, I pay premiums, plus deductibles, and yet I still get bills for services. If I have insurance, then insurance should pay 100% of the cost. This may not be an issue in your country, but our medical/health system is so screwed up in this country.

Not sure really..for the most part they are all reasonable. I do have an annoying medical bill now though .that I am mad about, because I was told it would be no charge

Then that medical bill is not reasonable You obviously aren't happy about it So is it fair to say that you grudge paying for it

You would think Trump would lower your energy bills given he fights with everyone who has oil. How do Americans feel about paying really high fuel bills, cost of everything going up, whilst they spend trillions on an illegal war and a space ship travelling to the moon and back I wouldn't be happy if I was.American

I would say insurance and taxes. They keep going up each year and we have no control.

The amount we have to pay for the electricity, gas and water that we use is actually very low but it's all the other charges that make the bills so high. Which is what you're saying, isn't it?

Standing charges, service charges Yes indeed What a rip off Energy, Scotland had the best windfarms in the world, huge solar farms, bit we have the highest energy prices on Europe, oh and we have oil and gas in the North Sea the Government won't hand out exploration licenses for
