New carpet, maybe.

The carpet fitter is supposed to be coming today to fit a new carpet in my daughter’s bedroom, the room I’ve just painted.
Of course he didn’t give an exact time, just Friday and that could be anytime. I was up at the skreigh of dawn to remove all the furniture in preparation for the fitting, and the house will be a mess till it’s done, with bits and pieces such as bed, tallboy etc in the living groom and elsewhere.
So I gave the lawn its first mow of the year - it’ll rain later this afternoon so it was good to get it done. And now I’ll sit staring out of the window, scanning the street for a carpet fitter who might arrive in 10 minutes time or, more likely, at six this evening.
Does waiting in for a workman make you anxious and impatient?

@AmbiePam The guy who usually measures me up for carpets (not often of course, but 3 times in 2 years) just gives a day, no time. I sit in all day and he doesn’t arrive or even call to say he can’t make it. Then when he arrives next and I’m not in he gets narky. We don’t go there anymore for carpets.

Yes, I get very anxious not knowing when someone will come. I go through this every day with Meals on Wheels too.

Yes, it does. Like you, I try to have everything ready at the earliest time they estimate and expect them at the latest time they estimated.
I hate waiting on other people.

Once he's gone you still have all the effort of replacing all the furniture and bits and pieces. I hope he wasn't too late in arriving.
