Rossford Ohio Police Officer Michael Shaffer showed his heart of compassion to donate of his kidneys to Ohio State Trooper Bowling Green Commander Matt Greer who suffers from Alport syndrome which affects his kidneys. Matt had suffered from Alport syndrome in November 2025 when he was looking for a kidney donation. Susan Rees who is the Chief Operating Officer for the Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation learned about Matt needing a kidney donation from a politician in Ohio. Susan reached out to Matt and began searching for a match. Michael was the closest person who could donate his kidney to Matt. Susan said that after a four hour surgery, Matt received his kidney from Michael at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Both officers were discharged from the hospital and they are expected to return to work soon. Matt said it was his pleasure to assist a fellow officer in need. Link is 13abc.com/2026/03/29/ohi...
