I Think I'm Going to Call a Dietician Today

My health insurance includes seeing a dietician, so I think I'm going to call today for an appointment. I'm pretty sure they make tele-health (video) appointments.
I just really don't know what to eat. I don't like food. I don't know why I don't like food, but I don't. I've been living on chocolate bars and protein bars for years.
Part of my problem too is I have other food issues like being lactose intolerant which rules out milk-based products and some cheeses. Throw in my nut allergy to all types of nuts except peanuts. Then there's the fish and seafood allergy where I can't eat any fish or seafood. All of that limits me.
I like grilled chicken, steak, bacon, and ground beef (hamburger). So that's good protein.
I watch my carbs so fruit is almost out of the question as all fruit is high-sugar/carbs. Bananas were my favorite, but they have 27 carbs in a medium banana.
The hardest part for me is at night when I just want a quick bite of something to eat with my hands. Protein bars were perfect for that, but as you know I've given them up.
So we'll see what the dietician says.

I seem pretty normal but to be safe, I would have a lab test this Saturday to see if there's anything wrong with my body. I saw a gym coach and measured my weight and height. I'm overweight considering my height and my metabolic age is already 52.

@LooeyVille My actual age is 38. In Japan, our weighing scale can determine that. Just input your weight, height, age, and gender.

What is your actual age? How do you determine a "metabolic age?" I'm not familiar with that.

I suspect something similar to the one you saw 5 or 6 years ago You are almost like the people I have seen on TV who eat nothing but French fries, or nothing but Mac and cheese and the like. Oddly enough, the nothing but French fry person was healthy.

You have a better memory than me. I don't remember talking to a dietitian.

@looeyville Tonight I’m concocting stuffed portobello mushrooms. The stuffing will be ricotta and spinach topped with a garlic, butter and Gruyère crumb. No? Ok.

Everyone needs some carbs, even if it's just a limited amount. They are especially helpful to feed the brain. The worst habit that we can get into is excess sugars as we age (sorry, but we are all aging it seems!) Bacon is a highly processed meat. I like it a lot, but my bacon consumption is down to a very occasional BLT in the summer when the tomatoes are fresh and right out of the garden. Eating an apple a day is more helpful to the body than people realize. I hope the dietician can help you.

The carbs in fruit process differently in the body than many other carbs.

My daughter just started this past week with a dietician/nutritionist and she got some good suggestions.
I hope you find one that can help you.

It will be interesting to see what a dietician makes of you.
Maybe you should try and get protein bars out of your head.
But like me trying to get Fish and Chips and lots of other stuffs out of my head
