Venison tonight

Awhile back I acquired some venison. It has been sitting in the freezer. I am going to have it tonight in Hamburger Helper. I have to weigh this package though. I think it is probably about two pounds so I will have to save some. I haven't had venison a lot in my life, but I do enjoy it. A few years ago I had some feral pig chops..and they were the best pork chops I ever had.

It’s rare that I have venison mainly because it’s not on the menu in restaurants and I can’t find it in stores, but I do love it.

@lovebuglena I am sure elk is just as good. I also know they eat moose in Alaska, but it seems like that might be tough.

It's tasty. Since I am having it with Hamburger Helper I am imagining it will just taste like hamburger.

@snowy22315 when I went to Cape Cod with my mom for vacation, we shared a house with some other people, and one of them actually brought venison with them and it was really good. Well actually it may have been elk.

@snowy22315 - It's very common in Switzerland, they also sell dry sausage made with boar meat and smoked ham.

@LadyDuck That sounds good too. There is a a hunting store around..it is a big store found in different areas of the country, and they sell a lot of that type of thing. I need to take a field trip to one near here, supposedly they have a restaurant that has an enormous fish tank in it.

I have always liked it as most do. It is fresher and leaner than hamburger.

It's good, you have to kind of get over the idea of eating it..but once you do it is tasty and healthier than beef.

@snowy22315 thats what I hear but I don't know how I would get over the idea of what it is. I guess the only way I would eat it is if someone invited me to dinner and didn't tell me it was venison.
