Good morning Apr. 17

I am gonna try to head it off at the pass. I noticed this morning that I might have the beginnings of a cold with some of the telltale signs. Naturally, I was concerned. So, after I had been up a little while, I took some elderberry, which is supposed to be good for immunity. I have been saving it for just this kind of circumstance. Another thing I have is zinc, which shortens cold durations if said cold does materialize, but maybe the elderberry has helped. No more nose running or mucosy feeling in my throat. Sometimes I can fight off a cold if it is coming anyway. Do you take anything if you feel a cold coming on?

I hope the elderberry works. My best friend puts a lot of faith into it.

It seems to be, but I was just thinking, I had two windows open last night. Maybe the pollen got to me.

@AmbiePam I just happened to think of it..Pollen doesn't generally bother me too much, but certain types can make me sneezy.

Thanks, I am thinking now it might have been pollen related.

@snowy22315 Oh, goodness! Is it pollen time already? Thinking of my poor hubs. He developed an allergy to pollen a couple of years ago. I don’t know which is worse - a cold or pollen allergy.

@snowy22315 I eat a lot when I have a cold because the action of chewing seems to keep my airways open.

Hope you nipped that cold in the bud . I've heard of taking zinc but not elderberry. See I learn something new here every day.

I hope you derailed it and it doesn't happen. I don't get colds often.

So far so good, feeling asymptomatic right now. I had two windows open last night. Maybe the pollen got to me.

In these situations, I will certainly drink a lot of orange juice. That's one of the main things I do, along with trying to get as much sleep/rest as I can.

Vit. C is good for immune support, and rest of course is always good.

I like elderberry syrup, it was very popular in the south of Switzerland. Oysters are the highest food source of zinc, that was the excuse of my husband to eat oysters. They are safe to eat until the end of the month.
