£100? - I can't be bothered.

Because I'm classed as elderly (67 and five quarters of a year old) and my income is relatively modest, it looks like I will be eligible for a £100 voucher from the government with which to buy heating fuel, although I can't get it until the summer when I'll not need to heat anything.
Every year pensioners get a heating payment, £200 last year, and it arrives automatically in our bank accounts. This new £100 comes not as cash but in the form of a voucher, and it comes as a result of eye-watering rises in the cost of heating oil because some idiot started a war somewhere.
The voucher has to be applied for rather than being given automatically. I think the government is counting on a lot of people not being bothered to apply or not knowing about it.

Do the elderly even know about this voucher? Here there are several things that seniors can get but many don't know about them.

I was old enough this last winter (62) to get some government help paying our heating bill. By the time the money actually went to the gas company, we were already almost through the winter. So we have money left over in our gas account to start next year with.
I've already applied for help this summer paying our cooling bill. Hopefully, since we had all kinds of stuff done to our house last summer, our cooling bills shouldn't be too high.

@xFiacre We're already running the air conditioner. We've had a few days that were 29C or higher. I'm worried we'll have a really hot summer this year.

Most people seem to overlook things they might be entitled to.
