Snacking on String Cheese and Sugar-Free Jello Gelatin

Most of you will still chastise me that these are not "real food" but hey, I'm getting better. I gave up chocolate 118 days ago and have only had it twice, so that's progress. I gave up protein bars last week, which have been a big part of my life these last 5-10 years. So I'm trying new things to snack on. I need something that is "sweet" without sugar or carbs and something that has protein that I can eat with my hands. Thus the string cheese and the sugar-free cherry jello gelatin. Surprisingly, I really like them both. I think I can do this. And oh yes, at mealtimes I eat protein only. Either grilled chicken or ground beef, without sauces, without bread, without buns and no sides. Do you like either string cheese or gelatin or both?

I can’t remember what brand it was, perhaps Kraft. Anyway, they had delicious mozzarella string cheese and I bought it all the time. Unfortunately, I ate it too often and got sick of it. Now that you bring it up though, it was a long time ago. I should try it again. You’re doing good, girl!

Good luck finding tasty things to snack on! I don't eat string cheese due to being lactose intolerant, but honestly I also don't eat it because I don't like the taste and texture. I can eat hard cheeses, so I mostly stick to Colby cheese and pepper jack.

Well you make a good point. Normally I'm lactose intolerant but I do eat Colby cheese slices with turkey. So I wonder how these mozzarella string cheese sticks are going to effect me? No issues so far and I started eating them Thursday night. I don't like eating it like a stick (texture) but I like peeling off a few shreds and eating those thin shreds a little at a time.

@LooeyVille I've noticed I can eat some cheese without getting sick, too, just like I can eat a small amount of ice cream without having a problem with it. If you catch yourself getting sick, try cutting back on the amount you eat at one time and see if your body will let you do that. Good luck!

@LooeyVille I would probably enjoy the string cheese better if it was shredded, assuming I could even eat them without any stomach issues.

Yes, I like both of them. I prefer zero sugar pudding though.

Yes I really wanted the pudding but it has a lot of carbs even though it's sugar-free

@LooeyVille For 60 or 70 calories though, I will deal with the carbs. Are you allergic to all nuts? You could have some of those too..if there are some you are not allergic to.

@snowy22315 Allergic to every nut except peanuts Also high carbs. Maybe I could do just 1 TBSP of peanut butter.

I do like string cheese and Jello but I won't buy the sugar-free kind. When my stomach really hurts, I mix up a package of Jello and sip at it. When my stomach stops hurting, I dump the rest of it out. I hope you tell people who complain about how/what you eat where to go. It's not their business.

I haven't had the impulse to make any jello since I had more than my fair share as a child while a patient during hospital stays. Cheese, that I eat almost daily. I like a slice of marble cheese at my desk in the afternoon.

Actually I like both but usually I buy shredded dheddar cheese becasue I can eat it as is and use it for emlting on food. I love Jello but if I buy it I buy it already made,

I applaud your ability to not eat chocolate. String cheese leaves an after taste film in my mouth that is hard to brush out.

I actually like the sugar free Jello once in a while. I know it's not super healthy, but when a person wants something sweet with no calories, it does fill the bill. String cheese is OK, but I do prefer hard cheeses. Not sure why, I do think it's the texture thing. I know many people love it.

Do you like either string cheese or gelatin or both? Don't think I have ever eaten either What is string cheese? We eat grated cheese.
