Blood Tests Done.

I'm so happy that the medical technologist who extracted the blood just make it a one time effort of poking my arm. Most of them can't get get blood in one poke that they have to do it twice and on both arms leaving me a big bruise on my arms. I just have to wait now for the results.

I don't let the blood tech take blood from my arms anymore. Like you, they never hit a vein the first try and start digging in my arms for veins. I jerk away from them and tell them to get somebody who knows how to draw blood. Now, I tell them to take it from the back of my hand and offer the right hand to them. Some don't like that and try to insist on taking it from my arm anyway. I get up and start walking out when they do that. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

I ask for the name of the tech, so I will ask for him if I have a blood extraction next time

@rakski That's good! It's hard to get a good blood tech (phlebotemist). When I was getting blood drawn the last time for tests, they sent me to a young man who was being trained. When I requested that the blood be taken from the back of my hand, he look at his trainer scared... She reassured him that it was okay since that was what I requested. I told him not to worry because I always ask for the blood to be taken from the back of my hand. The young man did a good job with only a tiny bit of pain. I made sure to thank him for a painless blood draw. He was very happy and proud he hadn't hurt me. I have "rolling veins" in my arms and explained that nobody can hit them when extracting blood so it is less painful for me to have blood extracted from my hands.

That's terrible. my sister's pre-med was medical technology and she's also a licensed MedTech as well before proceeding to medicine. She has very light hands and could easily draw blood without an issue. When she was an intern as OB Gyne, a former high school classmate of mine told me that among the interns who performed an IE, my sister was the only one who didn't give her pain.

oh nice! I hope all the MedTech and other medical staff have light hands. I do not like the OB-Gyne doctor I visited last time. I have to look for one again

It's not easy to find veins in some people. Happens with my elder daughter all the time. Good that it happened in one go. Hope the results are good

I’m so glad they were successful! They rarely get me in one try these days, unfortunately. I’d be very relieved if I got a person who was good enough to get it in one try.

I hope all is well. I hate bruising after blood draws. The good ones don't bruise you.

The last time I had to have blood drawn it only took one poke. It's unusual for me to get it in one shot so I can understand how happy you must have been with just that one poke, Hope you test results are good
