Many people are afraid of spiders. Those creepy crawlies turn people off and some like them. How about some fried spiders for dinner? Large tarantulas are fried and served with lime and pepper dip at restaurants in the capital, Phnom Penh, in Cambodia. Restaurants serve more than 200 a week to customers who enjoy this. Fried tarantulas are commonly found in street food markets, particularly in the town of Skuon, where they are sold as a specialty snack. This all began back in the late 1970s when food became a scarcity and locals chose to incorporate insects in their diet for nutrition.

Oh wow, that’s actually really interesting . I didn’t know people eat fried spiders like that. It makes sense though, especially if it started during a time when food was scarce. Still… not sure I’d be brave enough to try it!

Hey, I’m not going to poo poo something that started due to starvation. However, to get me to eat that, it is entirely possible I would have to be facing starvation. I just don’t think I’d be able to get past thinking so hard about what I was eating.

I had been to Cambodia several times and in the provinces of Thailand. It seems eating bugs is a kind of thing there.

This is the first time I have heard of fried spiders as a meal.

Not sure I would be brave enough to try, but they do seem like they could be interesting.

These look pretty gross in a way but I reckon I could tackle a leg or two.
