Wax in the ear .....Moms hearing test couldn't be done today ! / myLot

So, after getting up early this morning and going out for the bus , when we arrived at the hearing centre for Mom to have her hearing test and check up, the first thing the consultant found was that one ear was totally blocked and the other was 75% blocked ....with wax ! So obviously the test could not be done. The consultant has given us a letter which I shall take into the Doctors this afternoon, to request an appointment to have the wax removed. He has then made us another appointment to have the hearing test and check up done on another day. I have been saying that Mom hasn't been hearing as much as she should be .....now we know why. She does have drops to put in too which will soften the wax, making it easier the remove. What a start to the day ! How is your day going ?

My little six year old niece has the same problem. They thought she had hearing problems. I mean, she is so loud because she can’t hear well! Turns out her ears get clogged with wax, and every once in awhile they have to irrigate them. They said it looks like the Nile when they do it. I’m glad to hear there is a good reason for her hearing loss, probably.

We have ear drops too which we use to soften any wax build-up.

@JudyEv, she has drops too, she says she has been using them ….i’m not too sure.

My son has that condition wherein the ear wax gets dry. The EENT had to remove a huge one when he was a kid. But now it's ok because he has it removed regularly.

I have had to have my left ear irrigated once. The tube from the outside to the inside of my left ear is very narrow so I have to be very careful to keep it cleaned out. I hope Mom can get her ears cleaned and then get the hearing test done.
