I went to two supermarkets yesterday to buy some stuff. I noticed that at the first supermarket Twining tea was on sale at 2 for $6. I got a pack of raspberry and lemon and I also got a pack of rooibos. After putting them in the shopping basket, I noticed that it said must buy two. I wasn’t sure if you’re allowed to mix and match different teas so I put them back on the shelf and decided that I was gonna get them at the second supermarket. It was also 2 for $6 but you do not need to buy two so I’d be able to get two different varieties. When I got to the second supermarket and went to the tea aisle to get my tea, what I had originally picked up in the first store didn’t exist. Neither did any of the other varieties I would’ve considered. I was really upset about it. I should’ve just taken the two teas at the first supermarket and scanned them. If they wouldn’t have scanned at 2 for $6, I would’ve just asked the cashier to take them off. I may end up going back to the first supermarket today to get the tea. But I will be going to a different location, the one that I can get to by train without having to spend any money. Otherwise buying the tea on sale makes no sense as transportation is six dollars to get to the store and go back home.

It tickles my funny bone that you worry about the cost of the tea, but will spend $250 on getting your hair done. But hey, nobody likes losing out on a good deal.

I’m not willing to switch hair stylists. I don’t do my hair as often as I should because of the price. And it’s now $265. He moved to a new location, so raised his prices. But with groceries and other things I buy, I like to be as frugal as possible. Of course I don’t always get the items at the cheapest price possible but if I can save money, I see no point in throwing it away.

The train in Staten Island is free but if you get off at two of the stops you have to pay.

@Ineeddentures One is the stop where the Staten Island ferry is. And the other stop is a stop before the ferry. Originally the stop before the ferry was free, but then they installed turnstiles and now you have to pay. They probably did that because people would get off at that stop and walk to the ferry to avoid paying the fare at the ferry stop.

I hope you can get the type of tea you want. One of the things I dislike about our getting our groceries delivered. Sometimes they don't have what I order. I get my mouth set for something, and they end up not having it.

@lovebuglena ........the one store i use i can actually virtually go with the shopper and discuss options and what i want to substitute for a given item. But if I doing mine early morning and then go to sleep I don't get that option. I don't like their substitutions when that happens.

@celticeagle in some instances you can select no substitutions so if your item is not there you just don’t get it.

That sucks. And sometimes you get not what you ordered. Like they substitute and don’t even ask you first if you’re ok with that. My mom had that experience more than once.

What I would do this case is to ask around to see if there is anyone who is interested in the purchase then see if we can group buy for a delivery. Otherwise, I will combine order for the purchase and make everyone pick up at my house when they are available.

With petrol prices going up, we might decide to go to a particular service station then realise that the little we'll save we'll spend in petrol to get there!

I never went back to the store. But I still have plenty of other tea at home. Maybe I’ll get lucky and the tea is on sale for more than week and I’ll be able to get it next week.
