Dilated Eyes

When I got my vision checked yesterday they dilated my eyes. Unfortunately, as I went to leave, they did not give me any sunglasses (you should always wear sunglasses after your eyes are dilated). So on my way home I stopped and bought a five dollar pair. Years ago, the ophthalmologist dilated my mom’s eyes, and it took a week for them to go back to normal! As most of you know, they are supposed to go back to normal in 4 to 6 hours. When is the last time you had your eyes dilated? I’m sure a lot of you never have.

Usually it takes no more than 6 hours to go back to normal. I know that we usually go to have lunch and wait to come back home until we can both see well again.

Do they give the ones that just roll up usually? That's what they give here. Last time I had that done was August, they do it every time now because I'm diabetic, and I already have some degree of an eye issue

They don’t give the toll up ones, but they are those cheap, flimsy ones that if you look at funny they fall apart.

I find that my eyes remain dilated for 6-8 hours. I should find out soon enough, as I am due to book myself an appointment.

You know I don't even remember,. However what I do remember was while still living in Brookly I went to my dentist and he shot me with novacaine and fixed some teeth, Luckily we lived just about 4 blocks from his office because on the way home I suddenly realized I was seeing double,

They put three sets of drops in your eyes, which dilates your eyes so they can check what’s going on behind your cornea.

I never have so I have no idea how it would be. I don't think people are given sunglasses here after dilation. But I'm sure they are given advice to bring one with them so they could use it after.

Well, I call them sunglasses, but they are these cheap plastic things that cost about 10 cents each. I didn’t know my eyes were going to be dilated or else I would have remembered to bring my sunglasses.

@AmbiePam No I haven’t. I’d hate that. I’d rather spend all day in the dentist’s chair than have any other bit of me examined or treated. Hope all’s getting back to normal for you. But is normal good?

A few months ago. They reminded me to wear my "shades" on the way home.

I didn’t know they were dilating my eyes, but it should have occurred to me.

I get mine dilated every time I go to the opthamologist. I'm sorry they didn't give you sunglasses when you were done with the appointment. That's rough on the eyes without them. I'm sorry it took so long for your mom's eyes to return to normal.

Those eye drops burn my eyes big time! I keep a pair of sunglasses in the console but I rarely use them. But they are there just in case!! Your poor mom,a week of that!!
