Am I?
This morning while outside, I saw one of the four plants I planted with the smallest and top leaves being eaten by a very small worm.
I got so angry that I killed the worm.
You see, two to three months ago, I gave up on this citrus plant (calamansi) already. It was around 10-12 inches with all the leaves gone and was eaten by worms. The stem and stalk was the only one left that I thought it will soon die.
I started losing hope that it would survive, so I just let it be. Then after a week or two, I noticed something surprising—the leaves slowly started growing back. Little by little, it came back to life. Now it looks so beautiful, around 15 to 18 inches tall, full of fresh green leaves.
That’s why when I saw that tiny worm again this morning, I felt protective. After seeing how much the plant went through just to recover, I didn’t want it to be destroyed all over again.
Maybe I overreacted, but I guess that’s what happens when you watch something struggle and survive. You start to care more than you expected.
I really hope this time it will survive.

Good job! If something is killing your plant, you want to kill the destroyer so the plant can live and be healthy!

@rakski Of course I agree with you. We're both sensible people.

I think killing a worm to protect the plant was a good thing to do.

@brokenbee I did not do that because I'm pretty sure they will go back to my calamansi plant

@rakski yes... that's why instead of killing them, I just put them on another plant and hope they will become a beautiful butterfly...

It is so aggravating when varmints get into the plants. Have you tried spraying a mix of dishwashing liquid and water on them? I think that sometimes works and poses no hazard.

Wow! Calamansi, did you ever grow one? Did you harvest anything?
