I fought a not so tiny needle

Got my flu shot yesterday and honestly it was so quick I almost felt scammed. Like that’s it?? All that overthinking for nothing. The doctor was super nice too - she even asked if it was my first time, which lowkey made me feel like I had main character energy for a second. Woke up today and my arm is a little sore and kinda heavy, like I did a full workout in my sleep (I did not). Anyway, 10/10 would get poked again for the plot.

I used to be scared of needles but thankfully I learned to fought my own fear. Because I hate getting sick or feeling in pain.

I know some people are really scared of needles, and that makes sense to me. What I don’t understand is why anyone would invalidate their feelings or brush it off like “it’s nothing”

@Jehanne for real… people joke about things they’ve never had to deal with. It hits different when you’re the one going through it.

@sol_cee if only they know the struggle of fighting your own fear. Some even make fun of it. sigh... You don't need to understand because they aren't doing the same. Also, we don't need to explain why we are scared of something.

I'm glad the shot didn't hurt very much. I don't get flu shots anymore. They always gave me the flu... Most doctors say the vaccine can't do that but, once in a while you get a truthful doctor who will tell you it's not very likely that you can catch the flu from the "deactivated" virus but it is possible. If they would make a mRNA flu shot, then I'd get one. It isn't made from live or "deactivated" viruses. It's made to directly tell your body to make the defenses against the flu viruses without exposing you to the flu itself. Supposedly, they'll have an mRNA flu vaccine this coming fall. That will be nice!

@sol_cee Hi Dearheart... mRNA vaccines (like Pfizer and Moderna) work by teaching your cells to make a harmless "spike protein" found on the flu virus, which triggers an immune response without causing disease. They provide genetic instructions (mRNA) to cells, which then produce the protein and display it on their surface, training the immune system to recognize and fight the virus later. You would ask for a detailed explanation.

@DaddyEvil Ohh that’s cool, like a spy code your body reads to recognize the virus

I’m glad you didn’t have any problems.with your shot. You know, I had blood drawn today, and it didn’t even bother me. It was a blip on the radar.
