I just made a complaint to Dollar General Corporate

I just don't know what it is with stores these days..last week it was Walmart which still doesn't seem to have the message I picked up my tires, and had them installed, but that is neither here nor there. DG turned their store supposedly into a market with fresh produce and meats..supposedly like two weeks ago, mind you they were also closed several days for the conversion. Since that time some fresh meat has shown up, but no fresh produce which is what zI am after..Everytime you talk to the staff..they have a new excuse. It is not their fault. They are being yanked around by corporate too. Now, supposedly they need an inspection and there is no produce truck that goes out this far.. Why was this ever set up then? I am furious with the stupidity of the store disadvantaging the customer. They better hire somebody to deliver their produce, or I am going to try not to shop there .stick of this crap. After the complaint, the guy said he is mailing a report to the district manager to hopefully light a fire under them.

It never hurts to complain, but I just don’t see see Dollar General doing anything about it. They’ve never cared too much about the state of their stores. They seems perfectly content with being below average.

You are right about that. Some stores are definitely better than others though.

@Ineeddentures No joy for me, but I don't consider this to be a small thing either. It isn't like they ran out of the grapes I like or something.

There’s one in New Haven that took over a CVS that moved. I’ve never been there, so know zip about them. It never hurts to complain, however.

You aren't missing much, and they aren't all that inexpensive either. For a cheapo place, I would stick with Dollar Tree. At least they know what they are doing

My two closest Dollar General stores--one is about 7 blocks away, the other one is about 3 miles...the closest one is only about 2 years old. It is, and has always been, run by people who just simply don't care. It's always trashed, and I do mean trashed--carts in the isles full of goods that never seem to get put away, dirty floors, etc. I finally quit going there, but it's no loss, I hardly ever did anyway. Just too much of a snarl and a disaster. The one 3 miles away, is totally awesome. No messes. Everything in it's place, always. Friendly help. It's located in a small village and there is no other place to purchase much in that village unless you go there, so they have a lot of business. But for the most part, most Dollar General stores anywhere around here are very poorly run. Often many of them have signs up and the door will be locked, with notes that say things like, no one showed up to work, or something is broken, etc. For the most part, I consider it a very poorly run corporation.

@MarieCoyle In this area where there are few alternatives, they kind of have people over a barrel which is unfortunate.

@snowy22315 I think they grew too fast. They slapped together a ton of new stores and then seemed to think they could run them on a shoestring budget with hardly any help. Retail doesn't work that way. If you don't provide a halfway decent experience for your customers, they will not return.

That is really bad, I remember you mentioned they were out of fresh products and you would have called before going there.

No, they might be even more frustrated because they probably have people asking them about it everyday

False promises it seems. I'd be mad about it too. I hope something comes from the fire-lighting.

Our normal local gas station was closed for gas only (store was still open for convenience foods) for one week for installation of new pumps and then after the new pumps were installed they were still closed for another one week because they didn't have any gas.
