Today has been just a wonderful Wednesday.
Outstanding is what I would refer to it as.
Our deep freezer was getting awfully low on beef. I placed an order in March, and I called them yesterday as there isn't anything left but some very large steaks. The owner advised me that he would be butchering up my order this week. He told me he had the order with him, and that I requested no more than 170 pounds, and wasn't sure how big the next animal would be that they would butcher.
Lucky for me, it was a small animal. I received my call today that it was ready. The hind quarter was the smallest that I have ever received. It was only 140 pounds. I mentioned to him what cuts we were running out of a month ago, and this order has plenty of those. Sadly, the bottom line has increased, and they have raised the price by .30 per pound. Of course with everything on the rise, why shouldn't the beef go up as well, they have to pay a vet to care for the animal, feed and store it as it fattens up and then the butchering itself.
Things slowed down at work this afternoon and I was able to leave 90 minutes early. My husband and the babies came to pick me up and we drove out to the butcher's and picked up the meat. We brought it back here and took inventory of the packages and put it all into the deep freezer. We went back to our son's place after to play with the girls until Mommy came home from work.
That made it a wonderful day in my books. And only 2 more days of work left this week. How was your day today?

Babies always make it better. Glad you have the freezer full again. I don't see an end in sight for the rising prices

@wolfgirl569 I used to keep brown sugar on hand regularly in case I got in the mood to bake cookies, now I only keep a very small amount on hand.
When prices are as they are, it helps to shop at stores that give loyalty rewards in cash back.

Beautiful flowers and plants in this photo.
With this gas crisis all prices are increasing, but at least now your freezer is stocked again with meat.
I am sure the girls were excited to be with you during your shopping and back home to play.
Friday is Labor Day here in Europe, a lot of people on the roads for sure.

Thank you, I bought that planter last spring, and it looks great with a nice variety of plants and flowers in it.
it will be well into the month of May before it warms up to be able to plant here, we are expecting below average temperatures for the first 10 days of may.
We had alot of fun playing with Harper and Willow.

It's great when the meat order arrives.
But boy are the prices going through the roof.
What breed of animal did you get?

Sounds like a stellar day. Too bad you don't get out of work 90 minutes early everyday.

Having a deep freezer has to help with food cost on some level. Although, sticker shock is still a thing.

That's a lot of meat in one go, our freezer wouldn't have space! And yes everything has gone up so costs are increased at every stage - fertilizer, and therefore feed, and transport of everything including of course the fertilizer and the feed and the animal, it just goes on.
