Have you tried meditation before?

It is a big thing here where I am. Hey I'm always down to lay down in the dark under a blanket, listen to calming music, and rest for a bit. I'm not so great at the actual meditation part though. I do the breathing deeply, emptying my mind, and trying to follow the guided prompts but I just wind up laying there resting. I've been making a point of going to the afternoon meditation sessions here because the practitioners also incorporate singing bowls which I absolutely love. Today one of the clinicians had us try yoga nidra which is supposed to actually put you in a dreamlike state. She said that 20 minutes of that is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. Hey if she says so. . . because I never got there. It was the same as ever. Have you had any luck with meditation? Video of singing bowls

I've never tried meditation. I just sit under my blanket and close my eyes and pray for sleep.

Yes, I’ve used mindfulness meditation for years since I went to a class on it offered by a women’s veterans club in town. I don’t know about other kinds of meditation, though.

I have tried meditation and found it works for natural childbirth.

I watched the video (but not all 9 hours of it!). That's pretty cool. I think I'd like that. I've never had much luck with meditation.

I have actually but all it does for me is put me to sleep. I enjoy the deep breathing and emptying my mind but then they're waking me up. I don't think falling asleep is their purpose. The person who wakes me up is always shaking their head and going to the next person. I've never done the singing bowls but noise while I'm emptying my mind just annoys me.

I tried many years ago. The 'empty your mind' part is my stumbling block. How is that even possible? My mind is always full of things! As soon as I stop thinking about one thing in particular then I just think about everything else!
