A time to be proud and grateful

Last Monday, my wife and I travelled by train to a city 300 km to the north. We went there to attend the convocation ceremony at the medical college where our daughter is a student.
There were more than a thousand people seated in the college auditorium. Actually, many were standing as there were not enough chairs. We were among them .
When it was time for the young doctors to receive their medal, memento and certificate we moved closer to the stage.
It was the proud moment when our daughter's name was called in the sound system and her parents' names were announced. Our daughter climbed the stage , touched the feet of the professor and received the precious prizes of her labor from his hands.
A long article can be written about her journey to this moment of joy but let it wait for a more appropriate occasion.
However, it's not the end of her journey. Another challenge is waiting for her. So far, she was working through internship year and getting her monthly allowance. Now she must find a job to earn.
I hope, new doors will open to her and she will be "standing on her. own feet " soon as it is said in these parts of the world.

That's wonderful news and thanks for sharing it with us. Congratulations to your daughter. Becoming a doctor means a lot of hard work. You and your wife deserve a lot of praise too for giving her this opportunity. I'm sure she appreciates it.

Thank you Judy. People in India think a bare MBBS is not of much value. The fresh graduates need to be MD or MS and that means passing a tough eligibility test called NEET PG and if they are allotted a seat in a medical college and they have to train for three more years.

@franxav I understand. My family has doctors.
My father's Microbiology book has been the standard text book for fifty years though he is no more.
My brother is a pediatrician and his daughter is post graduate in Emergency Medicine.
His second daughter was persuaded not to go for medicine as, like you said, it takes long years.to specialize.
May your daughter be blessed to realize her dreams.
