Did/do you play instruments?

My mom (pictured) was such a good piano player, and also played the organ. I don’t know if people even play the organ anymore. My grandmother played both so I guess she taught my mom.
My sister plays the piano and flute. I remember her winning a competition for flute once. I don’t even remember why she chose to learn the flute. She gives flute lessons now (as well as piano), but she’s never done more than that.
I took 8 years of piano lessons, but haven’t touched a piano since my dad gave my mom’s away after she died. Having grown up in a home with a piano, it still seems odd to see their house without one.
Happy Mother’s Day!

We moved around so much in our early years, music lessons would have been impossible. I learned the guitar in my teens, did fairly well with it but have not tried to play in years. I would rather just listen to someone who knew how to play better than I did!
I have noticed that for several years now, a person can pretty much get a free piano whenever they want one--people can't seem to sell them and they give them away. It's sad...people don't take piano lessons like they used to. My two girls wanted to, so they had several years of lessons but they just aren't inspired by it anymore. You had eight years of lessons, that's a lot!! You could probably sit down and play a tune without thinking about it.
Your mother is lovely.

My sister still teaches a few piano students, so it’s nice that some people still foster an interest. I wouldn’t remember a single note of the piano, but that doesn’t really bother me. They always knew I didn’t want to take lessons.
Thank you, I think she’s lovely too.

@MarieCoyle Thank you for saying that. Everyone says we do. She used to love it when people thought we were sisters.

You look like her, at least from that angle. I thought it was you at first.

I played the flute but not well. I know two organists in their 90's, and one organist who must be in her 60's who also plays the harp.

I plunk on a guitar. I can scratch out a few melodies on piano. I tooted a French horn in junior high school band.
I can play the record player REAL well, though.

I used to play the flute. Haven’t played it for years though . I would like to play the drums …..ever since I saw Karen Carpenter playing the drums, and I thought that was pretty cool for a girl. Wouldn’t mind learning guitar too.

A time was when I was eager to learn how to play flute. One of my friends who lives at a village knows how to play the instrument. He assured me he will teach me the skill, but due to some reasons his family suddenly shifted to another village which is far away from our town.

I have played both guitar and piano never well. I did get an A when I took piano in college though. I think this mostly due to effort on my part, not natural talent.

Tried to learn the drums, bass, and keyboards.
Didn't move forward with any of these instruments.
Guess i love music but music doesn't love me back.

I taught myself how to read music and play basic notes on the piano. When we moved, I had to give it up as we did not have room for it. Your mom was very pretty!

Oh wow, am pretty sure if you come in contact with a piano all you have learnt we come right back.
I actually play the drums, have been playing it for years now in church and still playing. Am currently teaching someone else in church as well. I know just the cords in keyboard and that's pretty much it, but my siblings play the piano pretty well. We are 5 siblings and 4 of us can play various instruments, while the one that doesn't play an instrument, mostly sings.

Lol my parents are pastors, so while my dad was alive he made sure we could all learn how to play cause the people he normally hired to play in church often disappoint him, so he felt his children would be better. . I was literally forced to learn the drums back then but now i am enjoying every bit of it.
