Terrible experience

Yesterday, I finally went to see Maybe Happy Ending musical with my mom. I was looking forward to it for a while and I’m glad we finally got to see it.
There was a proportional discount of $73 per ticket when I was looking for tickets to the show. That meant that the seats that I could get were in the side section and not close to the aisle. Our seats were six seats past the aisle or something like that. I thought we would be able to see well. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
We were sitting in row B. There was a railing in front of row A and because of that there were moments where we couldn’t fully see what was happening on the stage. To make things worse the girl that was sitting in front of me in row A kept leaning forward, probably because she had a hard time seeing as well, and that obstructed our view even more. A lot of the time I had to shift my position just so I could see something happening on the stage. And even that wasn’t always helpful.
I enjoyed the show itself but because of the issue with not being able to see everything that was happening on the stage at all times my experience was ruined.
From now on if I’m ever going to see a Broadway show again I’m not going to sit where I was sitting yesterday. It’s either gonna be in the center section or in the side section but where the aisle is. It’s better to spend a little more money for a ticket, then get cheaper tickets and then have obstructed view.
Unfortunately, no matter how expensive the tickets are there is no guarantee that the person in front of you is not going to block your view but at least you wanna make sure there is no pole or railing or anything else that can block the view of the stage.
When I was buying tickets, some seats I clicked on did give a warning message that there could be an obstructed view, but the ones that I actually bought did not have that. Had that message popped up I would’ve never gotten these seats.

I remember I saw a musical once where my seats were actually good, but the person in front of me was very tall, and that created an obstructed view. And the seats were not cheap which was very frustrating.

Oh, I’m so sorry you had such a horrible experience. I have only seen one “major” play — Cats — and I saw it twice. Once was in Los Angeles, and once was in Louisville (took my dear mother of blessed memory with me). It was spectacular both times, with no hindrance of the view. I’ve had bad views at music concerts, though…but at least you can still enjoy the music.

Even with great seats, sometimes you can’t see everything because people in front of you are too tall or they decide to sit forward instead of back.

Yes. Even if the tickets were free I still would be upset.

I am glad that you could get some enjoyment from it anyway. I am sorry it was not the best seating for the view.
