I have learned something new.

Instead of using hummingbird feeders, I just like to plant things that bloom. I was always told they preferred red and yellow, but last year they liked the purple bean plants with showy purple flowers. I do not like the liquid feeders because I have seen too many posts about how hummers get sick and die if they are not kept scrupulously clean. I feel like flower nectar is healthier for them.
Last year my sage got really mature, and bloomed in the fall. Well it started the spring with purple blooms as well.
Hummingbirds love salvias. Sage is a salvia. Bob has been saying that they visit this big tub of blooming sage on a daily basis while he reads outside.
I thought it was a little early for hummingbirds as well, but I am glad they can have a quick refueling with my blooming sage.

I’m sure the natural nectar is better for them than our sugar water.

I'm sure those hummingbirds are enjoying visiting your sage plants. Bab sounds like he has a nice little bit of entertainment while he's reading outside.

Sounds neat. The dill I planted is supposed to attract a certain type of butterflies. I hope it happens. Right now just hoping the dill lives and grows. It hasn't gotten the best start.
