Going to a coin fair today / myLot

Shortly we’re off to a coin fair. Vince has collected coins for a very long time. Most of his collection is of Australian coins but includes a lot of mint rolls as well as loose coins. With postage as high as it is, it’s not really an option to sell on Ebay so we’re going to the fair to see how else we can dispose of the coins. If some are worth more than their face value, it seems a shame just to bank the money. These fairs are held every three months so maybe next time we’ll have a stall of our own. I’ll report on it later. The photo is mine of a florin. The photo won't load. I'll try later but it's not a big loss.

I have a box full of coins, some very old, I tried to sell them but no one seems interested. I only sold a very old one, an ancient Roman coin, that had some value.

We are finding the same. The other problem is we don't know the value of them. We're going to join the numismatics society and, at their monthly meeting, you can put up 8 items to auction. That would be a start.

@JudyEv - Sometimes I check online and theoretically some of our coins have a good value, the problem is that no one is buying coins right now.

I have a lot of coins, too. I've been hanging onto them since I was a teenager and watched for unusual coins when I worked as a cashier. I've bought a lot of "proofs" and have saved unreleased sets as well as different exhibition sets over the years... I've always told Pretty that she should be able to get a lot more than I spent on them when I purchased them. We don't have coin fairs that I've ever heard of here. I hope you and 'Vince can get your money back plus a nice profit from the coins he's saved.
