Have you ever skipped dinner after eating too much at lunch?

My husband and I ate out at a Mexican restaurant for our lunch today. We ordered quite a lot of food. I can remember I ate too much quesadilla and the burritos that we ordered were big. After that I felt so full. It's almost the time for cooking dinner now. I'm still feeling full. My husband wanted some pasta with red sauce for his dinner. But I think I will just let him have dinner by himself. I'm stuffed. Have you ever skipped dinner after eating too much at lunch?

@Shasha_ - No, I never snack through the day, but I always had the habit not to eat too much.

@LadyDuck Good for you. Many people find it difficult to control how much they eat every day.

Is it because of you snack throughout the day?

I completely feel that—there is nothing worse than skipping the dinner where you try to be good, only to end up lying in bed counting the hours until breakfast!

@valherma00 Consider yourself lucky! When I eat light, my stomach files a formal complaint that the whole room can hear.

My husband and I don't have set meal times. We eat when we're hungry. The only real meal I can honestly say we have, is 'breakfast' as it's the first thing we eat after sleeping.

@Shasha_ In some cases that's true, but the stomach actually empties after about 30 minutes. There are other factors as to why a person might not wait until hunger strikes to eat, health is typically one of them. Diabeties for example, is a health condition in which you need to eat at certin times to keep your blood sugar from going to low. People who are Diabetic, can't regulate their blood sugar correctly. So by the time they feel hunger, it could mean their sugar is to low. Which is why they test their sugar and try to fit food into a schedule. I typically eat full meals when I'm hungry, but I also might snack throughout the day as well, to keep my energy up and my blood sugar from boddoming out.

That's great when we are still be able to listen to our body. We eat only when we are hungry. That's what most people are lacking nowadays, that they keep eating while their stomach is still full.

@kaylachan Good to know. No wonder people with diabetes sometimes eat more often than the others who don't have diabetes. I also snack throughout the day. Maybe that's why sometimes I don't feel really hungry when dinner comes.

Hopefully your husband doesn't mind if he eats dinner by himself.

We don't want to push our stomach to do more work to digest more food. Sometimes it needs a break.

Eating at 3 a.m is a very very late supper. I guess we can call it a very very early breakfast. . And you did skipped your dinner.

O sure, I have. That has not happened often, but I definitely remember over doing it a few times and not eating until the next morning.

Yeah, and also putting in more food to our full tummy can effect our sleep at night, too.

I already eat only once a day. No breakfast, no lunch. Just a dinner is sufficient for me to survive. I'm completely fit.

That is amazing discipline! Since you only eat once a day, I’d love to know how you make sure you're getting all your vitamins, minerals, and proteins in that one sitting—it can be tricky to pack everything into a single meal!

It's rare. But it does happen. Dinner becomes a small snack at that point. I actually hate when that happens.

Yeah , I got it. Dinner should be a great moment for unwinding after a long day and connecting with loved ones or family. Good amount of food provides an opportunity to refuel our body with necessary nutrients and prepare for a restful sleep. When dinner is small, it will be like a snack. Not a dinner anymore.
