I hate the thought of dementia but is a looming factor in our later years if certain things are apparent. Here is a list of factors:
* Age -- About 1/3 of people 85 and older may show signs.
* Heart disease -- usually caused by plaque which can cause dementia too.
* Smoking -- bad for the blood vessels taking blood to the brain.
* Sleep -- those with ongoing problems getting enough sleep.
* Genes -- if other family member have had it there is a test you can have.
* Obesity -- extra weight in older age can be a factor.
* Loneliness -- Feeling lonely over time can increase your chances.
* Head injury -- severe or repeated hits or falls could double or even quadruple your chances.
* Eating patters -- eating starchy or processed foods can up your chances.
* Depression -- may up your chances.
* Herpes (HSV1) -- recent studies show this virus is linked with a mental decline.
* High cholesterol -- high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes have higher risk factors.
* Poor sense of smell-- people who have trouble identifying odors can be more apt to get dementia.
* Air pollution -- 1.4 times more likely
Remember, there is a test your doctor can run.

@GardenGerty You bet I will share. While we are at it, let's get some whipped cream for a side.

Add to your list anemia and kidney disease as possible contributing factors.
