Do you ever go to bed early?

I used to stay awake until 1 or 2 AM, grading papers, and still be ready for my 8 AM class. I am not so sure I could do that now. Am I "old and full of sleep," to quote my late father? It is only 8:30 PM, but I look forward to "crashing." Tomorrow, I go to my first ever "quinceañera." It is a celebration of a Latina girl turning 15. She is my bass student and has been for several years. I bought her a Metallica book and will also give her a pair of the coasters I make. I love to tease her about her love of "heavy metal," and I "torture" her by making her learn Miles Davis and other jazz tunes. It should be a fun event. Anyway, I am storing up energy for tomorrow. Do you ever go to bed early?

I have a couple times, but was sick. Usually I can't fall asleep early. No matter how tired I am in the day, I can't nap either.

@TheHorse I'm going to have to take lessons. I'm spotting a couple trees that would hold a hammock, but I have to figure how to get in one without breaking my neck.

My days of making it until 1 AM are limited. Including on New Years Eve.

The problem now is the difficulty in going to sleep early. Typically, sleep occurs around midnight, and going to bed later than that makes it much harder to fall asleep normally. Waking up usually happens at 6 a.m. or later, regardless of whether a good night’s rest was achieved or not. However, getting less than eight hours of sleep results in feeling irritable throughout the entire day.

@TheHorse What a word, ennui... had to consult the internet for its mysterious meaning. lol. I might just experience it myself on one of those delightfully irritable days I’m talking about.

I go to bed at 1AM and wake up at 7 in the morning. I take a nap in the afternoon for about an hour. Don't forget I am retired. I am happy to sign off - for the day for now!

@TheHorse I recall a comment that he was busier after retirement with activity overload! Though I wonder at times at the march of technology and the opportunities therefrom. I am happy that I am retired from the "rat race". Then again if we check what we will need after twenty years for the same lifestyle through AI, we will be in for a shock!

That sounds like a lot of fun. I don't go to bed anymore. I'm up all night.

I go early to bed since I was young. I have never been a night owl, but I always got up very early in the morning and I still do. Enjoy your quinceañera party.
