Neighbors rescue a dog that was inside of a house that was on fire in Ohio

Firefighters in Arcanum Ohio answered an emergency call on Friday when a house caught fire with a dog inside while the owners of the house were away.
Before the Arcanum Fire Department arrived to put out the fire, neighbors managed to rescue the dog and get the animal out of the burning home. The fire was extinguished quickly.
The preliminary investigation shows that the cause of the fire was a stove malfunction that started in the kitchen and spread throughout the house.
Thank goodness that no one was hurt in the house fire. The severity of the damage is not known.

That sounds rather odd for a stove malfunction to be responsible for the fire, as most stoves cause no problems when switched off. I wonder what happened exactly, as maybe the stove was faulty, and they could claim damages against the manufacturer.
It was good the dog was rescued, and the fire put out quickly, before major damage was done.
